Is there a way to email everyone in the school without having to go through each classroom?

Yes. Depending on what rights a user has, they can send a message to an entire grade, or the entire school. A Site Admin, along with the PTA/PTO/PA Executive Board have rights to send messages to the entire school. Classparents can send messages to an entire grade, along with just their class.
