In an effort to better promote the many great features of ClassroomParent, I want to make sure you all know about the "Neighbors" tab: http://rpems.classroomparent.com/poolings
If you log in and click on this tab, you can see how close other RPEMS families are to you. The box in the upper right hand corner allows you to adjust the distance range and also send a message to your neighbors.
If you haven't already, please consider using this tool to assist in organizing car pools, walking groups and just getting to know your neighbors. This is also great if you are thinking about letting your student start walking or biking to & from school but would like them to have a "buddy" along for company (and safety). I must admit, I was surprised to see how many families live within a tenth of a mile of me.
Heather Franklin brought this up at our PTA meeting during Kathy Vizachero's workshop on Work/Life Balance & I couldn't agree more. Organizing a carpool is an easy way to simplify your day and ClassroomParent makes it even easier because contact information is right there for you to send a message.
Whether you are "in-zone", "out-of-zone", around the corner or from other parts of the city, let's all try to make an effort to save gas and especially time, which is in short supply for everyone these days (and wouldn't it be great to provide some relief to our drop-off and pick-up traffic?!)
